Here is our first installment of a new weekly post where we feature a different flower every week. This week’s flower is the Lily. Pictured above is the Stargazer Lily, which is widely used for floral arrangements because of it’s large and showy bloom. This flower is great in vased arrangements as well as funeral tribute sprays for a dramatic effect. Most varieties of lilys are very fragrant so they are not recommended for the highly allergic individual. For detailed info go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilium.

It is very helpful to gently remove the pollen from the bloom to prevent a potentially staining residue. If pollen dust falls onto a petal it can be carefully dusted away with the rounded end of a pipe cleaner. Overall the lily is a great flower and is one of the most popular for it’s longevity and beauty.
