Shop with Pugh’s Flowers this holiday season for the most spectacular Christmas Wreaths, Centerpieces and flowers to honor Hanukkah
Pugh's Flowers Christmas floral products and related décor offer so much wonderment and holiday spirit to the season! Pugh's Flowers sells only top quality, farm fresh and same day delivery Christmas Centerpieces, Wreaths and gifts. Interestingly, Christmas Centerpieces, Wreaths and decorations are not only festive but they also have a deep symbolism surrounding the Christmas season. For example, the Christmas Wreath represents eternity. This is because of its circular shape which signifies it has no beginning and no end. In addition, Christmas Wreaths are traditionally designed using evergreen leaves. The evergreen tree does not shed its leaves in the winter thus symbolizing eternal life. The many colors of Christmas decorations have interesting meanings and are believed to date back to the 15th century. At that time in history in London, it was a custom that homes and parish churches display ivy, holly and other various natural decorations. People felt that the heart-shaped leaves of ivy symbolized Jesus coming to earth and that holly provided protection against witches. Plus, its thorns and red berries represented the Crown of Thorns worn by Jesus at his crucifixion. The intentional selection of red, green and gold decorations is by design also. Gold is one of the first colors associated with Christmas. It symbolizes royalty as it was one of the three gifts of the Wise Men. Red symbolizes the blood of Jesus shed during crucifixion. In 1839, a Lutheran priest came up with the idea to use a wagon wheel to symbolize the approach of Christmas. Using the wheel as the foundation, the priest would use red and white candles to reflect the Advent season. In the Roman Catholic Church, the season of Advent is four Sundays in December each one taking on a different theme: On the First Sunday, the church looks forward to the Second Coming of Christ. On the Second Sunday, the church reviews the message that John the Baptist preached. His message was for Christians to "prepare the way of the Lord". On the Third Sunday, which is referred to as Gaudete Sunday, the theme is again surrounding the joy Christians have by the coming of the Saviour. On the Fourth Sunday, the theme is about Mary and Joseph and how the events led up to the birth of Jesus. This holiday season, we invite you to shop in person or online and see the sensational holiday flowers and gifts at Pugh's Flowers. In addition to being the best shopping day of the season, Black Friday is also known as the beginning of USA Christmas shopping season. Last year, when Covid was peaking, many people opted for online purchasing so they could safely shop from home. That has been a growing trend for several years and now has become even more popular. However, for those that want to get out and visit stores in person, the opportunities will be there. Following Black Friday, there are a couple of additional special shopping opportunities: Small Business Saturday occurs between November 24th and November 30th. This day falls in as one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. First observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, Small Business Saturday is within the same theme as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These are days when shopping at retailers and e-commerce stores is at its height of the season. Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to visit local businesses to make purchases. Pugh’s Flowers wants to enhance the Thanksgiving holiday spirit in your home with our exquisite flowers and gifts
Pugh's Flowers The holiday season is upon us with Thanksgiving in just two weeks. From all of the Pugh's Flowers family, we would be delighted to have you shop with us in person or online and let us help you create a fresh, colorful and festive holiday atmosphere in your home with our elegant flowers and gifts. Our expert and professional floral designers have produced some of the most elegant holiday spirited floral products you will find. The concept of Thanksgiving originated in 1621. History studies has taught us that the Pilgrim's first winter, after landing in America, was particularly cold and harsh. They were only able to survive by the pure generosity of the Native Americans that shared food with them. To repay their new Native American benefactors, the Pilgrims held a three-day feast. The bounty they shared included dried fruits, boiled pumpkin, turkey, venison and other foods. A slightly different menu from what we are accustomed to but no doubt a delightful feast at that time. Over the many years the theme of a celebration of harvest has continued to be a cherished event. We think of Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks for our foundation of this great Nation and for family and friends. It is also the official start of the holiday season and a special time of fellowship with those closest to us. After receiving encouragement from some people, President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a nationwide holiday in 1863. As many people will be traveling and or hosting the Thanksgiving Day meal, there are guidelines to contemplate according to the CDC. Some of their modified guidelines from last year are: Protect those not yet eligible for vaccination such as young children by getting yourself and other eligible people around them vaccinated. Wear well-fitting masks over your nose and mouth if you are in public indoor settings if you are not fully vaccinated. Even those who are fully vaccinated should wear a mask in public indoor settings in communities with substantial to high transmission. Avoid crowded, poorly ventilated spaces. If you are sick or have symptoms, do not host or attend a gathering. Get tested if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have a close contact with someone who has COVID-19. If you are considering traveling for a holiday or event, visit CDC’s travel page to help you decide what is best for you and your family. CDC still recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, follow CDC’s domestic traveler or international travel recommendations for unvaccinated people. If you will be traveling in a group or family with unvaccinated people, choose safer travel options. Everyone, even people who are fully vaccinated, is required to wear a mask on public transportation and follow international travel recommendations". Pugh's Flowers offers the very best Thanksgiving flowers and gifts to enhance the holiday spirit in your home. Fall Centerpiece - Having a dinner party or get together and want your table [...]
Honor a Veteran this Veterans Day with beautiful flowers from Pugh’s Flowers
Pugh's Flowers The curious history surrounding Veterans Day on November 11th is interesting and quite unique. In 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, all major hostilities of World War I were formally ended. Veterans Day was initially referred to as Armistice Day and was created to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans. A respectable and loving way to honor a Veteran on this special day, is to send a flower arrangement or plant from Pugh's Flowers. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson gave a memorable speech where he highly commended the men and women of the United States military. "To us in America the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service, and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of nations". Both Armistice Day and Remembrance Day are celebrated in other countries as a remembrance to the end of World War I. In 1954, Veterans Day became the official name in the US to honor our military men and women. Veterans Day differs from Memorial Day. While both days honor our military, Memorial Day is designated to honor those who died while fighting for our country. Veterans Day is designated to honor all of the military folks who have served our country. You will find creative, loving and fresh floral products at Pugh's Flowers. Here is a short list of ideas for other kind acts to honor a Veteran. People easily recognize that talented leaders are the ones that encourage us to be at our best while continually helping us feel motivated and positive about our accomplishments and contributions. Pugh's Flowers has the freshest, most thoughtful and most creative floral presentations to reflect just how much respect and appreciation you have for your boss. The idea of "National Boss's Day" was offered up to the United States Chamber of Commerce in 1958. The thoughtful woman who introduced the concept was working for her father as a secretary at a State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois. In her observation, it did not seem clear to younger workers that their supervisors were dedicated, committed and hard working individuals. She felt their dedication needed to be realized and appreciated. While it used to be common place to simply give your boss or supervisor a thank you card, today it is appropriate, in most offices, to give he or she a gift. Typical gifts are candy and chocolates. In many cases employees pool their money to buy even bigger gifts. Do you have a special boss that you would like to give a special floral gift to? We have just what you need at Pugh's Flowers!
