Pugh’s Flowers was started in 1976 by Bill Pugh and his partner. Over the past 40 years, Pugh’s Flowers has grown into one of the premier flower shops in the country. The flower shop is currently owned and operated by Tim, Michael and Mark. Bill Pugh’s three sons. We operate three retail flower shops in Memphis, and another in Southaven, Mississippi. Along with our floral design business, the brothers also operate Pugh’s Earthworks, Rosie’s Pest Control and a new business that will be opening soon, called Pugh’s Lawn.

Taking Care of Your Plants on Houseplant Appreciation Day
January 10th is Houseplant Appreciation Day. It was a day that was created to show the value and benefits that these indoor plants play in our lives. They provide beauty plus help us feel better. While we can't thank them for what they have done for us, we can ensure we make them last as long as possible on this special day and every day. Here are some simple houseplant care tips that you can put into action to take care of new and existing indoor plants at your home or office. Keep potting soil moist, but not wet. If your soil is either too dry or overwatered, plant’s roots are damaged and then the plant can't grow. For example, mold is an indication that you have overwatered your plant. Some plants, such as succulents, need periods with no watering. Soil should be moist to keep your houseplants feeling good. Always water with room temperature water. Select an area that gets adequate sunlight. Plants need to have sunlight so they can go through photosynthesis. To help them, give your houseplants indirect light by putting them in a well-lit room. Fluorescent lights also work for certain types of plants. Flowering plants need between 12 and 16 hours of light while green plants need 14 and 16 hours of light. Also, don't move your plants around a lot. They actually get used to the area they are at. You don't want to stress them out! Use balanced, 10-10-10 fertilizer. Most houseplants do well when you give them a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer, which includes nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. They need the nutrients found in potting soils and fertilizers in order to survive. If you don’t add new nutrients to the soil, then your plant will eventually die. If you have a foliage plant, you should get a fertilizer or potting soil high in Nitrogen. Buy more green plants.
