Pugh’s Flowers was started in 1976 by Bill Pugh and his partner. Over the past 40 years, Pugh’s Flowers has grown into one of the premier flower shops in the country. The flower shop is currently owned and operated by Tim, Michael and Mark. Bill Pugh’s three sons. We operate three retail flower shops in Memphis, and another in Southaven, Mississippi. Along with our floral design business, the brothers also operate Pugh’s Earthworks, Rosie’s Pest Control and a new business that will be opening soon, called Pugh’s Lawn.

Seasonal Poinsettias and How to Care for Them
The poinsettia plant is one of the most beautiful symbols of the Christmas holiday season. With bright red or sterling white hues, these flowering plants provide a cheerful message that is great for decorating your home or office as well as giving as a special gift. Our Memphis flower shop is overflowing with Christmas joy in the form of Christmas décor, Christmas flower arrangements, wreaths and garlands, and, of course, poinsettia plants. We have both red and white varieties of poinsettia plants on their own and with other plants like ivy. You can also get various sizes of poinsettia plants with more than one flowering plant per container. The poinsettia plants are available in various types of containers, including baskets. Once you have your own poinsettia plants or you have purchased them for others, it’s important to know how to take care of them so they can last throughout the season and into the New Year! We have put together a poinsettia care guide that provides a comprehensive care plan for your poinsettia plants. Some of the poinsettia care highlights include: Check your poinsettia plant daily to make sure it has enough water. If the surface of the dirt is dry to the touch and there are no visible signs of water, than give it some water to keep it refreshed. Put your poinsettia plant somewhere in your home where it will get natural light like next to a window that faces south, east, or west. Keep the poinsettia plant in bloom by maintaining a temperature between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Any colder than 60 degrees and the poinsettia plant could be vulnerable to root rot disease. Make sure the poinsettia plant is not subjected to warm or cold drafts, as this will cause the leaves to fall off prematurely. While poinsettia plants are not toxic to humans, they are to animals so keep your fuzzy family members safe by keeping them away from these plants. Thanksgiving Events in Memphis
While the center of Thanksgiving is typically a delicious feast with friends and family followed by a little football or a trip to the movies or strategic planning for those holiday shopping days, there are other events in Memphis that you may also want to put on your list. Zoo Lights opens on Thanksgiving from 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Prices are $7-$9 plus extra charges for ice skating and Ferris Wheel, all ages/kid-friendly. The Zoo is closed during the day on Thanksgiving but will open that night. The Zoo and Zoo Lights are open on Friday and Saturday. Starry Nights at Shelby Farms is open nightly, including Thanksgiving, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (and on weekends until 10 p.m.). It costs $20 per car (a little bit more for vans and buses) and $3-$5 for other activities, including a petting zoo, camel rides, and s’mores roasting. The Turkey Trot 4 Miler benefiting the March of Dimes is on at the Botanic Gardens on Thanksgiving Day and starts at 9 a.m. It’s a fun event for the whole family and proceeds go to a worthy cause. If you want to volunteer and feed the homeless, many shelters around Memphis are looking for extra hands to help out this year. The day after Thanksgiving is pretty special, too, in Memphis. There is the Peabody Christmas Tree Lighting in the Peabody Hotel Lobby on Friday, November 25th. The event is free and is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. There are choirs all day, and Santa arrives right after the 5 p.m. Duck March to turn on the tree. Petal It Forward, Pugh’s Flowers gave away hundreds of flowers!
On October 19th Pugh's Flowers had a great time in Southaven giving away free flowers as part of the nationwide #petalitforward campaign. At lunchtime in Southaven in front of Moe's Southwest Grill, we gave each recipient two bouquets and asked them to keep one and share one with a friend, loved one or even a stranger to promote the happiness that flowers bring. Scientific research shows that the presence of flowers improves mood, creativity and productivity. Michael Pugh, Tim Pugh, Marlowe Pugh, Caroline Hudsmith, Ronda Delk and Debbie Crawford all helped greet shoppers and give away the bouquets. A great time was had by all!
