It’s time for Prom! Bring out tha Bling! Pugh’s Flowers Memphis
It's spring and that means it's time for prom. Every Friday and Saturday night in April you will see kids all dressed up with their dancing shoes on! Prom accessories are a fun way to give your date a little gift while accessorizing the dress and tux. The corsage should not exactly match the dress, but rather should compliment and accent it. An example would be that if a dress is a soft pink, the corsage would be a great compliment if it was a mix of soft pastels, maybe blues, whites and yellows. This is allow the dress to shine while providing some accent colors. Corsages can also be worn on the ankle if the wrist is getting in the way! It's a great way to be different and get attention to those fabulous shoes too! Men like the bling on their bouts more than they are willing to admit often times. Adding a little silver or crystal sparkles to the traditional rose bout will set the party mood and look great in pictures! Contact Pugh's Flowers for all of your prom accessory needs. Lots of ladies prefer the handheld bouquet to the wrist corsage. It looks great it pictures, makes a great keepsake if the flowers are dried afterward and can be set down while dancing the night away.
Mr. Pugh goes to Washington, Pugh’s Flowers
Pugh's Flowers is proud of our CFO and owner Michael Pugh! He is on the board of the Society of American Florists and just got back from a trip to DC where he was part of a lobbying effort. SAF Senior Director of Government Relations Shawn McBurney boiled down the complex STARS Act into two main talking points: “Simply tell them that seasonal employees and seasonal workers are defined as two different things in the federal law, and that makes it difficult for you to comply with the law. So you will be faced with fines for unintentional non-compliance.” You can read the whole article here.

Flower Care, How to make your flower arrangement last longer. Pugh’s Flowers Memphis
Want to enjoy your beautiful flower arrangement longer? It's fairly easy to get a lot more life out of your fresh floral arrangement. Here are the top 5 tips for extending the life of your fresh flowers. Change out the water. Gently pour out the water every other day and add fresh water. This is the best thing you can do. Hold the stems in place and gently tilt the vase to drain the water in the sink. Simply fill it back up with fresh tap water. Keep your arrangement out of direct sunlight. Don't place your flowers directly under a heat vent. Check the water level daily, add water as needed. Some flower types like gerberas and sunflowers may drink an entire vase full of water in a single day! Take out any stems that are wilting. You can try to re-cut the end of the stem and place back in the arrangement. If that does not work just discard the dying stem. Pugh's Flowers goes to great lengths to keep bacteria away from our flowers. We wash the buckets, cutting tools and anything that touches the stems with anti bacterial solution to prevent bacteria from growing in our arrangements. We also keep and use only fresh stems. Pugh's takes great pride in the quality and longevity of our beautiful arrangements. Watch this short video to see one of our experienced designers speak about keeping your flowers longer.
