Pugh’s Flowers was started in 1976 by Bill Pugh and his partner. Over the past 40 years, Pugh’s Flowers has grown into one of the premier flower shops in the country. The flower shop is currently owned and operated by Tim, Michael and Mark. Bill Pugh’s three sons. We operate three retail flower shops in Memphis, and another in Southaven, Mississippi. Along with our floral design business, the brothers also operate Pugh’s Earthworks, Rosie’s Pest Control and a new business that will be opening soon, called Pugh’s Lawn.

Petal It Forward, Science proves that Flowers make people happy, so Pugh’s Flowers is giving a bunch away!
Memphis, TN October 2, 2015 – The “Happiness” team will be hitting the streets of Memphis on October 7th, handing out hundreds of flowers to busy commuters to help brighten up their week, as part of the ‘Petal it Forward’ program, in partnership with the Society of American Florists (SAF), of which Pugh's Flowers is a member. ‘Petal It Forward’ is in response to the release of new data by SAF showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers. University research reveals that flowers have an immediate impact on happiness and a long-term positive effect on moods. Now, a new survey has found that, when it comes to flowers, it’s just as good to give as it is to receive. With this data in mind, the Petal It Forward team is not only spreading happiness to lucky Memphis residents who receive the flowers, but arming these recipients with the tools they need to Petal it Forward and spread happiness to others: An extra flower bouquet to share with a loved one, coworker or even a stranger. “We see the positive impact day in and day out when we make our flower deliveries,” said Michael Pugh of Pugh's Flowers. “People love to get flowers ‘just because’ so we wanted to create random smiles, and give people a chance to do the same for someone else.” In March 2015, SAF conducted a survey of 2,500 people throughout the U.S. to uncover the impact of flowers on Americans. The results revealed the many benefits of flowers, including the positive impact flowers have on one’s emotions and happiness, and backed up previous research studies on flowers conducted by Rutgers, Harvard and Texas A&M. The following are highlights from SAF’s recent survey results: When it comes to happiness, it’s just as good to give flowers as it is to receive: 88 percent of Americans report that giving flowers makes them feel happy, while 80 percent reported that receiving flowers makes them feel happy. Just being around flowers improves your mood: 76 percent of Americans agree that having flowers in their home or office improves their mood. The best reason to receive flowers is “just because”: Women (92 percent) are more likely to agree with this, but the majority of men (three in four) also share this sentiment. Florists to the rescue! Nearly four in 10 Americans indicate florists have helped them in a past or current relationship; most frequently to say “I love you,” or schedule a surprise delivery. “The impact of giving or receiving flowers is powerful and memorable,” said Pugh. “It can turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.” The Petal It Forward Team from Pugh's, that includes the mascot Pughy, will give away 100 bouquets to people on the street in Midtown Memphis during the lunch hour. After receiving their flowers, recipients are asked to spread the happiness by gifting their extra flower bouquet, and sharing their happiness on social media using #petalitforward.

Pugh's Flowers and Pugh's Earthworks are sponsoring the Camp Good Grief 5K. Why the ties to the Baptist Camp Good Grief? Pugh's owners and brothers, Michael, Tim and Mark Pugh lost their father at an early age and they have a passion for helping others in the community deal with the unexpected loss of their loved ones. Camp Good Grief is a free bereavement camp for children in particular and it has made a difference in so many lives over the years. Learning to deal with grief can be difficult alone but with a community of support the process becomes a lot more bearable. So many tragedies happen and kids are not equipped to handle the recovery alone. Society Of American Florists Convention, Pugh’s Flowers Memphis
The Society of American Florists is having their annual convention this week where ideas are shared, award winning flower species are announced, and contacts are made among florists all over the country. Pugh's Flowers owner and board member Michael Pugh is in attendance. All kinds of information is presented at the conference to help florists stay on top of trends and opportunities. National Grandparent’s Day, Pugh’s Flowers Memphis
The impetus for a National Grandparents Day originated with Marian McQuade, a housewife in Fayette County, West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She also hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day. When is Grandparents Day? It is September 13th, 2015. Pink Wedding, Pugh’s Flowers Memphis
Here is an interesting wedding theme, Valentine's Day in August! This wedding turned our beautifully! Tall and short table centerpieces, cake flowers, bride's bouquet and all the trimmings were pretty in pink! Roses, hydrangeas, gerbera daisies and rose petals were soft and feminine and really made this event something special.
